Snapshots #2: Creepy Crawlies

snapshots16

I’m a bit of an amateur photographer – I studied photography at A Level, and it’s always been a hobby of mine. Snapshots is the feature where I share some of that photography! All of the photos link to my Flickr account, in case you’re interested in viewing more.

Today’s theme is: creepy crawlies.

I think this is the only time I’ve seen a red dragonfly. They’re normally blue or green!

  1. I was hovering over this post for so long before I clicked it because the title was scaring me haha! Ended up being the best photography ever! Moments like these are really hard to capture so I’d definitely love to be able to as well. 😀

    1. Haha! Aww, thanks Laura 🙂 I took these on my old camera which had an AMAZING macro – even though my new camera is much better overall, the macro is just not the same.

    1. Thank you 😀 There are actually some great phone cameras out there. I’ve yet to see one with a macro setting, but some of them produce such crystal clear images.

  2. Cool pictures!! I love looking at other people’s photography. That spider pic is awesome!! I don’t think I’d ever be able to get close enough to that thing to get a pic as good as yours!! I can’t wait to see more of your stuff 🙂

    1. Thanks Michelle 😀 Yeah I’m not afraid of spiders, but maybe I should’ve put a warning before the photo for those that are 😉

  3. Wow these are beautiful photos! I’m not that into the creepy crawlies, but I’m really impressed by how clearly and beautifully you captured them! This is such a great feature – can’t wait for the pictures you’ll take in the Netherlands!

  4. WHAT THE HECK. HOW DO YOU GET SO MANY GOOD PHOTOS? And WHY ARE THERE AN ABUNDANCE OF INSECTS? I’m actually terrified for you!

But as said, these photos are awesome! I also really like photography (and also invested a good amount of money in cameras) and I’m glad to see that you’re having fun with it as well 😀

    1. Haha, trust me, for every good photo there’s fifty bad ones! 😀 And I have this instinct to grab a camera when I spot a bug. A photogenic bug? That sounds weird.

      Thank you, Valerie 🙂

    1. I felt like I should’ve put a warning for them, but I guess creepy crawlies is enough to warn people away who REALLY don’t like bugs 😉 Thank you!

  5. As much as I never want them to touch me or generally get near me, I LOVE admiring bugs and insects, so photos of them are a favorite of mine. They’re just SO INTERESTING to look at! I love that you featured them today; you’ve got some wonderful shots! My favorites are the spider and the beetle in the flower!

(Do you know Blepharopsis? He’s been my favorite insect photographer for YEARS. Apparently he’s deactivated his deviantart account, though, which makes me sad! T_T)

    1. Yeah, some of them I’m verrrry careful around when photographing… but they’re fun to capture 🙂

No, I haven’t heard of him! It won’t let me view that page without a Pinterest account, aggh 😦
