Last year I shared my bookish New Year’s Resolutions for 2015, so I thought I’d do the same this year! Let me know if you have any resolutions, bookish or not, in the comments below.
- Finally get round to the books I’ve been meaning to re-read. I’ve already taken a step towards this by announcing some planned read-alongs.
- Get my Netgalley ratio over 80% – or even to 100%… It’s currently sat at 77%, so I’m close!
- Do not worry about quantity of books read, but focus on quality. I always aim to read at least 100 books a year, but that shouldn’t be the most important thing. Instead, I should aim to read books that truly appeal, rather than picking up shorter/quicker reads just to up the number.
- Although… I would also like to reach 1000 books marked as ‘read’ on Goodreads. However, this should be pretty easy as I’ve only got 20 or so to go.
- Make more use of the Goodreads recommendations feature. Because, you know, I already don’t have ENOUGH books to read. But I’ve noticed that Goodreads chooses some really fantastic books for me based on my shelves, so why not use it more?
- Make some progress with my Classics Challenge. This is a lifelong challenge so there’s no rush, but I’ve barely made a dent in it since starting.
- Get back into the swing of commenting on other blogs. I was really dedicated during Sci-Fi Month, but other than that I’ve been slacking on comments.
- Keep blogging!
77% on NetGalley is actually really good! It always shocks me how much my ratio fluctuates month to month – probably because all the new books get added at the same time, haha. Focusing on the quality of books over quantity is something I’m hoping to do this year, too! 🙂
Thanks, I’m pretty proud of getting there! Although I feel like a lot of bloggers always have 100% or some ridiculous number. Because I have a lot of books from Netgalley, 1% is still several reads…
Those are some great goals. Your Netgalley rating is way better than mine. I tend to request stuff and then only manage to get round to reviewing them long after the fact.
Well that’s what I do too… I’m just catching up on request from 2-3 years ago! 😉
The Netgalley one is a good one. Mine is currently at 65% and I would LOVE to try to make it to 100 by the end of the year. Race you? ;D
My commenting game has really sucked lately. 2015 was just a bad year for it. But ONWARDS!
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! Although… how many books do you have to read for 1%? 😛
Yes! I actually added the blogroll to the side for several reasons – one, of course, to get people to visit those blogs. But two, to remind me to comment on them.
Great goals!
That Goodreads Recommendation can be deadly haha It’s really accurate though I find 🙂
I also have to read more of my Classic novels. Definitely failed on that last year!
It seems to be particularly good when I’m in a fantasy mood… I can just keep adding and adding and adding…
Best of luck with your 2016 resolutions, Rinn! 🙂
Thanks Jess! 🙂
SO MUCH YES on many of these resolutions! 😀 I really want to get back into the swing of blogging and commenting. CHEERS TO THE NEW YEAR, RINN! ♥
Yes, I might try and set aside just 20 mins every evening or several evenings a week just to leave at least some comments. Have a good one, Ana! ❤
Ugh I envy that rating… I like your resolutions this year. A lot of people on the blog say it’s about quality not quantity but equally so, documenting all that you read!
Haha, but it still doesn’t feel enough for me! And yep, I don’t want to read any more ‘filler’ books. I want to read things that I’m interested in – if I don’t like it, I’ll DNF it. Simple, then more time for the amazing stuff.
