Do you ever spend ages working on a post, and then are a bit disappointed by the response? Maybe it doesn’t receive as many comments or views as you wanted, or maybe your readers don’t seem as enthused as you expected. Or perhaps there are posts you wrote a long time ago, which were popular at the time but have since quietened down – but you’re proud of them and want more people to read them. Your best content shouldn’t just disappear, it should be there for all readers to find. That’s why today I wanted to share some past post love – linking to some of my most popular posts from the past, or ones I’m most proud of.
- How I Came To Love Jane Eyre – I re-read this classic a few years ago, and absolutely fell in love with it.
- Why The Lord of the Rings Is ‘My Precious’ – a tribute to my favourite book of all time.
- The Careers of Book Bloggers – a post about my career ambitions, and wanting to know what other bloggers do. The responses are fantastic!
- Books That Would Make The Best MMOs – I often thought that so many different books would make AMAZING MMOs (massively multiplayer online games), so I wrote a post about it.
- Growing Up With Harry Potter – bow down to J.K. Rowling, my queen.
- My Least Favourite Elements of Fantasy Fiction – it was fun to look at one of my favourite genres in a different light.
- Mythology in Fantasy – a look into how elements of mythology (one of my fave things) are used in fantasy fiction (also one of my fave things).
- Fantasy Pick n’ Mix – this post took HOURS to put together. A sort of ‘masterlist’ of fantasy recommendations, depending on what elements you’re looking for.
- A Game of Manicures – manicures based on the houses from A Song of Ice and Fire.
- Rinn and Paola Discuss Dragon Age – I miss Paola! We used to fangirl over this amazing video games series together a lot, we very much enabled each other and this post was a LOT of fun to write.
- What Has Blogging Done For Me? – spoiler: a HELL of a lot.
- Improving My Netgalley Ratio – tips on how to reach that pesky 80%, which ironically I had not reached when I posted this – BUT I HAVE NOW. HELL YEAH!
- Do We Really Need Strong Women? – or rather, do we need to label them as so?
- Dear YA Fiction Characters – an open advice letter to various YA characters.
- The Three Star Rating – what does three stars actually mean?
- Online Friends – why is there still a stigma around online friends, when so many people meet their future spouses online?
- Judging A Book By Its Cover – who doesn’t?
- Why I Love Video Games – I really, really do (but books more).
- How Web Design Has Changed – believe it or not, I’ve been blogging/running websites for nearly 12 years now, and things have changed a LOT since then.
- Here Be Dragons – a comparison of dragons from various books.

When you’re writing a quality post and ignore all distractions
This is such a good idea! I have a few posts that I put a lot of time and effort into that didn’t quite get the attention I would have liked even with tweeting out links and commenting around, so this kind of post may be something that I might do on my blog in the future 🙂
Definitely go for it! I bet there’s loads of great stuff that’s just been pushed to the side by newer posts, and it all deserves attention 😀
I love what you did here, I will share this idea. I was just here looking for some good fantasy book reviews but this caught my attention. I have found so many good reads this summer already, currently Ajax Minor’s Sun Valley Moon Mountains. This book is my favorite read of my year so far. Brilliant! Great books, great posts can life get any better?
Thank you, Rachel. 🙂
